Description: Danish is a difficult language to acquire both for L1 and L2 learners. The language is known for its high number of phonemic reductions, consonant lenitions and schwa drops, which is making it different from Norwegian, despite being closely related languages. In this project through series of experiments we will be testing hypotheses, examining the possible difference in phonological representations Danish native speakers may have compared to native Norwegians. Specifically, we will examine whether Danish speakers have underspecified or overspecified phonological representations. More specific hypotheses will accompany each experiment.
