Description: The phenotypic behaviour associated with psychosis and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have been theorised to stem from diametrically opposite tendencies in mental state attribution. We investigated whether tendencies towards psychosis and ASD relate to opposite tendencies in agency attribution. Participants from the general population (N=300) completed a visual search task, where the goal was to identify (intentional) chasing motion. In line with predictions, psychotic traits were associated with a bias to see chasing. In contrast, we found no support that autistic traits reduced agency detection.
