Because the methods of Studies 3 and 4 are so similar, we report them together here and note where they differ. **Proposed Replication Studies 3 and 4 Power Analysis.** For Proposed Replication Study 3, we will use the power analysis calculated earlier. Based on our earlier reasoning, we calculated that we will need 210 males (105 older males and 105 younger males) and 188 females (94 older females and 94 younger females). The younger males and females were collected in Completed Replication Study 2 and we will compare these here. For our older sample, we thus aim to collect data from 94 older females and 105 older males. For the MTurk Study (Proposed Replication Study 4), there are two possibilities to base our power analysis on. First, we could collect the amount of participants based on the power analysis above (105 older males, 105, younger males, 94 older females, and 94 younger females). Alternatively, we could base ourselves on the data we collected thus far, using the Cohen’s d =.21 from our Completed Replication Study 2. We choose to do so here, in order to run an even more high-powered study, while also giving a greater chance to confirm the moderated mediation analysis suggested earlier. Based on a power of .95 and an alpha of .05, we need 591 younger males, 591 older males, 591 younger females, and 591 older females (a total sample of 2364 participants). **Study Materials and Measures** The same materials and procedures will be used as in Replication Studies 1 and 2. For Replication Study 3 (the older sample) we will use a Dutch (questionnaire) version, while for Replication Study 4 we will use an English questionnaire in Qualtrics. All measures will be the same as in the previous versions that have already been uploaded. **Known Differences** **Replication Study 3 Differences** • The original study was conducted in English in retirement communities in the Southeastern United States. The third replication will be conducted in Dutch with city council members from the Netherlands. The materials were back translated for our earlier studies by two students at Tilburg University who are fluent in both Dutch and English. • The questionnaire reported in the 2004 paper included six dilemmas. Ours (based on the measure provided by Buss) again includes eight. • We will again add additional measures at the end, namely an assessment of Sociosexual Orientation. **Replication Study 4 Differences** • The original study was conducted in English with undergraduate students at a large university in the Midwestern United States. The fourth replication will be conducted with MTurkers. • We presume the original study was conducted with paper and pencil. This version will be conducted on computers via the Internet in Qualtrics. • We will again add additional measures at the end, namely an assessment of Sociosexual Orientation.
