Description: See the preregistration for this project under the section "Registrations" (above). In this project we collect cross-sectional data in an online experiment. We measure the degree to which participants experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACE; specifically childhood maltreatment) via self-report questionnaire. We then aim to a) use the level of ACE to predict the behavior participants show in a distrust game (based on stimuli of varying trustworthiness levels) and 2) use ACE to predict how positively or negatively participants rate emotional facial expressions of varying intensity. The overall research question is whether those with higher degrees of ACE show greater distrust and negatively shifted emotion ratings in the experimental paradigms.
