Description: The proposed 2023 SA public school mobile phone ban provides a unique opportunity to monitor and understand the effects of phones on young people in our schools. We propose a novel study that will investigate potential changes in students’ engagement and mental health and wellbeing following the mobile phone ban in schools. Study findings will be invaluable to policymakers, educators, parents, and students themselves, and help guide important decisions on the future of digital technology in education.
