Wiki Version:
A power analysis using G*Power (Faul, Erdfelder, Buchner, & Lang, 2007), based on the finished (pilot) study effect size of Cohen’s d = .37 (IJzerman, 2013), indicates that our study requires 226 participants to obtain a power of .8 with an alpha of .05. For Hypothesis 1, we will conduct a multiple regression analysis (MRA), with standardized scores of length of living and communality and their interaction terms inserted stepwise. For Hypothesis 2, we will again rely on a bootstrap analysis, using the INDIRECT macro by Preacher and Hayes (2008). For Hypothesis 3, we will conduct a comparable MRA as in Hypothesis 1. For Hypothesis 4, we will again use the PROCESS macro by Hayes (2013).
