Description: This research seeks to generate a theoretical model of the function of formal support groups (FSGs) for families with gifted children using a constructivist grounded theory approach (Charmaz, 2014; Saldana, 2022). We will conduct semi-structured interviews with a purposive sample of participants and facilitators of gifted parent FSGs to identify themes, develop a theory, and create a figure that models the perceived function of gifted parent FSGs. The emerging themes and theoretical model from the initial interviews will be used to structure follow-up interviews and refine the themes and theoretical model.
