Intelligence is a well-studied construct in psychology that has correlational relationships with many educational, employment, and health outcomes. However, prior research indicates that incorrect beliefs about intelligence are widespread.
Through this project, we aim to explore these beliefs further. First, we conducted a survey of US adults on the degree to which they believe with common beliefs and perceptions of intelligence. Then, we collected course catalog data for 303 US colleges and universities. Finally, we present an example of a psychology Intelligence Course that we believe would improve psychology education and address the hole in the curriculum.
