Description: Social groups and group identity significantly influence the political process, affecting voters’ understanding of politics as well as parties’ efforts to connect with voters. In this project we embarke on a comprehensive examination of group appeals from both a theoretical and empirical perspective. Engaging in conceptual development as well as the construction of a large-scale longitudinal and cross-national dataset, we contribute to the growing scholarship on group appeals.
