Description: A collection of music and participants ratings of emotions for a selected short clips of film soundtracks that have been used to study emotion recognition and induction in music (Eerola and Vuoskoski, 2011).
Background
One drawback in music and emotion research has been the choice, quality, and amount of musical examples used as stimuli. Too often the previous studies have utilized well-known excerpts of Western classical music, which have been chosen arbitrarily by the researchers.
