Description: A randomized control trial will be conducted in seven (7) counties in Tennessee to study the effectiveness of having social workers employed public defender offices. The study will also assess the effectiveness of human triage decision making. The researchers will measure various outcomes, including conviction and sentencing, probation violations, and recidivism.
