Description: Seafood is an important source of healthy animal protein, making it a valuable part of the food system in the United States. We assembled a database of 195,367 grants awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) from 2018 to 2023. This database included all grants awarded by four USDA agencies that are primarily responsible for awarding grants to enhance domestic food systems, totaling $252.5 billion (USD) in awards. We evaluated the extent to which these grants have supported activities related to either wild capture fisheries or aquaculture. The database included within this project is analyzed within a peer-reviewed article in the journal Frontier in Sustainable Food Systems (doi: 10.3389/fsufs.2025.1558756).
