Wiki Version:
The project explores the history of the economic arguments and the economists' practices in the "equal pay for equal work" controversy in the United Kingdom, between the end of the 19th Century and the Second World War. The first paper focused on the dialogue between Millicent Fawcett, Beatrice Webb and Eleanor Rathbone. The second (forthcoming, draft very soon) paper is focused on Edgeworth's contributions to the study of equal pay and the impact of "sentiment and prejudice" regarding the modelization of competition. The third (forthcoming) text relates the origins and outcomes of famous British economists' testimonies to the Royal Commission on Equal Pay in 1944-1946. The two last papers are joint projects with Annnie Lou Cot.
