Description: Morphometry based study of local metabolic fitness with endurance training in man: Activity-induced increases in energy expenditure such as with endurance training are an important stimulus for improvements in metabolic fitness. Cellular adjustsment in energy suply lines (capillaries, mitochondria and intramyocellular lipids) in peripheral skeletal muscle play an important role in local aspects of training-induced improvements in aerobic capacity.
