Wiki Version:
**Pioneering People of Color in Psychology** [Running List of Psychologists][1] [Biographical Resources][2] This project is seeking to highlight pioneering women and men who earned the first doctorates in psychology as people of color in the United States. Our short term goal is to highlight their achievements including their dissertation and other research and professional contributions they made. We started with collected the names and dissertations of the pioneering women of color who earned their doctorate degrees in psychology in the United States. Though we recognize that classifying human beings into racial categories is both archaic and unscientific, we do so to help individuals with strong ethnic or racial heritages to connect with women we believe to be heroes in the field of psychology. Thus we are collecting the names and dissertations of women who were identified as Black, Asian, Native American, or Latina. We started with the goal of finding the first five women from each category, but that has been difficult for some groups. We also feel that there is value in collecting more early dissertations, so we will begin to expand beyond the first five and beyond women. Now we seek to find these cultural pioneers who earned their doctorate before 1980. Should you have any information that you believe we would find helpful, please email the project leader, Jon Grahe at grahe@plu.edu Student written summaries of some dissertations can be found [here.][3] [Reference List of Dissertations][4]--includes men too.
