Description: In the pursuit of educational excellence, this proposal presents a strategy for advancing teacher professional development (PD) through adaptive Online Professional Development (OPD) programs, integrating artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance educational effectiveness. Addressing the evolving landscape of teacher PD, our project emphasizes the shift from traditional methods to a continuous, lifelong learning model. This approach is vital for meeting the diverse needs of teachers in the context of digitalization and AI integration in teaching. Our strategy centers on developing, evaluating, and implementing AI-supported adaptive OPDs. These programs are designed to be flexible, responsive, and tailored to individual teachers' varying expertise and interests. This individualization is essential for transcending the limitations of conventional PD models and maximizing educational impact. The project is bifurcated into two levels: strategic framework and development decisions (project level; Level 1), and implementation of these concepts in specific OPD instances (OPD specific level; Level 2), managed by postdocs and supporting teams. Comprehensive research will explore the development, customization, effectiveness, and implementation challenges of AI-supported adaptive OPDs. This proposal aims to significantly contribute to the field of teacher OPD, providing scalable, evidence-based solutions that leverage AI to meet teachers' diverse needs and enhance teaching and student outcomes. Funding support is sought to realize these objectives, with a clear plan for future third-party funding and project sustainability.
