"Data services" is a new and developing area of work that libraries are exploring. This talk briefly examines the genealogy of data services, from scholarly communication through public access funder mandates (#OSTPResp) to data visualization and curation, and opines about 5 guiding questions that libraries (and the academic library profession) must grapple with.
