Wiki Version:
Effective January 2023, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Data Management & Sharing (DMS) Policy requires investigators applying for funding to submit a Data Management and Sharing Plan (DMSP) that describes how scientific data will be managed, preserved, and shared. In response to this new NIH policy, a community of over thirty librarians and other research data professionals convened the NIH DMSP Guidance Working Group, collaboratively producing comprehensive guidance about the policy for researchers and research support staff. The resources include glossaries of policy-related terms, example DMSPs, readiness checklists for librarians and researchers, and a data repository finder. This resource toolkit was published with an open license to allow institutions to access and modify the documents to meet their specific needs. Our presentation will discuss how the diverse community of experts who formed the NIH DSMP Guidance Working Group developed the toolkit and provide an overview of the resources.
