Wiki Version:
**Northwestern University Psychology Methods Reading Group (NUMethods)** The primary goal of this group is to explore both foundational and emerging material on the replicability of psychological science, improving research methods in psychology, and open science initiatives. **What This Group Is** - A learning group specifically for junior researchers (i.e. **pre-faculty**) - A forum for reading and discussing issues relevant to all areas of psychology methods including BBC, clinical, cognitive, personality/development/health, and social - A place for critical discussion of ideas and viewpoints to be had in good faith - An open forum for hosting the occasional area-general methods presentation or workshop on tools to improve our methods (open to all members/ranks of the department) **What This Group Is Not** - A statistics class - A class on "how to" implement research methods specific to one area of study (e.g. neuroimaging or qualitative methods) - A forum for airing irrelevant interpersonal grievances, ad hominem attacks, discriminatory beliefs, or gossip about specific researchers **Organization** This group will meet on a biweekly basis, for 1.5 hour periods, with five or six meetings each term. Regular attendance is not required, and nor is any prerequisite knowledge (aside from basic statistics). We will start with approximately 2-3 target articles per meeting, with optional supplemental readings provided. Our goal is to make the reading load *manageable*. For the schedule of readings, please see the component page for the term in question (Winter link above). If you would like to be on the email list for this group, please contact Cassie at cbrandes[at]u.northwestern.edu **Resources** If you have little interest in participating, and just want an awesome list of methods readings on the above topics, see our [preliminary list][2] or the [incredible modular syllabus][3] (that some NUMethods members helped make at SIPS 2017). Additional learning materials will be continually added to our [Tools for Improving Methods][4] page, and our page for [Blogs & Podcasts for Further Enjoyment][5].
