Description: Many of the current digital preservation initiatives in Canada are focused on the preservation of research data. CARL’s Portage is a national, library-based research data management network leading a national effort to develop a research data preservation service. Portage’s Preservation Experts Group (PEG) has been established to advise Portage on the long-term stewardship and access to research data and metadata. PEG feels that a collaborative effort is required to overcome significant gaps and challenges and to build the infrastructure needed to create a sustainable research data preservation environment in Canada. This poster describes a disaggregated digital preservation strategy proposed by PEG. The proposed approach is based on OO-IO model and covers all core-functions, as articulated in the OAIS model, using a disaggregated approach through collaboration and coordination of services.
