Description: Creative arts interventions, including art, dance movement, theater and musical modalities, may reduce depression and symptoms in older adults through physical, interpersonal, cognitive and social mechanisms. It has been recognized as an adjunctive intervention for mental health issues in older adults. Technology proliferation and digital literacy enhancement have prompted many older adults to utilize the internet and smart devices to meet health needs. Through digital technology, older adults can remotely connect with psychotherapists. Notably, Creative arts interventions is particularly well suited to distance delivery, partially due to increasing ease of sharing images via online channels and non-reliance on verbal communication, and also due to dealing with symbols, metaphors and projections, which can manifest irrespective of medium used.
