Description: Objective: The aim of this review was to (i) examine the relationship between five different Yo-Yo tests and , as well as performance in various fitness tests, (ii) provide practical guidance for fitness assessments. Methods: Four databases (PubMed, Web of Science, SPORTDiscus and Scopus) were searched. The AHRQ scale was used to assess the risk of bias in cross-sectional studies, while the certainty of evidence was assessed using the GRADE approach. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 33 studies and 1362 participants (95% males) were analysed using a qualitative scoring of the r values to characterise the magnitude of the correlation between five different Yo-Yo tests and , ie. Yo-Yo Endurance test (Yo-Yo ET), Yo-Yo Intermittent Endurance Level 1 and Level 2 (Yo-Yo IE1 and IE2) and Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Level 1 and Level 2 (Yo-Yo IR1 and IR2). Furthermore, 36 studies and 1262 participants (92.7% males) were analysed using Pearson’s correlation analysis between the Yo-Yo tests and physical fitness tests. Results: The pooled results showed positive correlation between the Yo-Yo ET (r = 0.77, large), Yo-Yo IE1 (r = 0.83, large), Yo-Yo IE2 (r = 0.81, large), Yo-Yo IR1 (r = 0.80, large), Yo-Yo IR2 (r = 0.61, moderate) and Meanwhile, the pooled results from the five different Yo-Yo tests showed weak to strong correlation with RSA (r = -0.36), jump test (r = 0.41), treadmill test (r = 0.59), endurance test (r = 0.64), respectively. Conclusion: The five Yo-Yo tests could be used to estimate , with the Yo-Yo IR2 having the poorest correlation. The correlation between Yo-Yo tests and other fitness tests, endurance tests were confirmed, albeit the correlations were moderate for endurance tests and poor for explosive tests. Coaches may consider using the Yo-Yo test as an estimation method of and endurance performance, whereas explosive and strength should be tested separately.
