Description: Presentation as part of the symposium "Unanswered questions in ideal preferences and romantic choice" The goal of this study was to investigate the association of age with ideal partner preferences in long-term relationships based on a large cross-cultural sample. Outcomes included preferences for kindness-supportiveness, attractiveness, financial security-successfulness, confidence-assertiveness, education-intelligence and parenting intention as well as age-range deemed acceptable. Hypotheses were preregistered and analyses are based on a sample of 17,254 single, heterosexual women from 148 different countries. Overall, age explained little variance in any of the partner preferences. However, age was positively associated with preference for confidence-assertiveness. In addition, we found a positive link between age and age-range deemed acceptable.
