## Modern RP ##
The Modern RP corpus is a selection of recordings of students at Cambridge University made in 1997/1998 and 2008. The speakers were chosen for having upper middle class backgrounds as defined by at least one parent having a professional occupation along with the speaker also having attended a fee-paying secondary school (or primary and secondary school).
The part of the corpus shared with the SPADE project is a reading passage, an extract from E.M. Forster’s ‘A Room With a View’ from the beginning of Chapter 3 (Music, Violets and the letter S) until “…It was all that one could do.” The reading text can be found in the 'Files' section for this dataset. Alignment was carried out by the Data Guardian using FAVE.
