Description: In a study exploring collaborative group engagement (QCGE) in virtual learning settings, researchers observed psychology students' nonverbal behavior during videoconference sessions. These sessions were recorded to analyze the relationship between nonverbal behaviors and QCGE, which was assessed using a rating scheme with four dimensions: Behavioral, Social, Cognitive, and Conceptual-to-consequential QCGE. Both quantitative and qualitative analyses were performed. The study found that various nonverbal behaviors were significantly related to specific QCGE dimensions. These findings help identify key indicators of QCGE in virtual synchronous learning environments, aiding in the development of advanced assessment methods and potentially enhancing collaborative learning in such settings.
