Wiki Version:
"A publication is defined 'open access' when there are no financial, legal or technical barriers to accessing it - that is to say when anyone can read, download, copy, distribute, print, search for and search within the information, or use it in education or in any other way within the legal agreements." (openaccess.nl) There are different options (routes) if you want to pusblish open access. - Publishing in a full open access journal is cold the **Golden Route**. This route may involve so called Article Processing Costs (APCs), a fee the author has to pay in order to publish. - Publishing in a hybrid journal (that offers open access publishing but not exclusively) when no APC is charged is called the **Diamond Route**. You can find an overview of Diamond journals [here][1]. - Publishing the full text of an academic article in a publicly accessible database is called the **Green Route**. This includes self-archiving. ---------- **Videos** [What is Open Access][2] [Open Access explained][3] ---------- **Important links** [Information about OA policies of journals and conferences][4] [Suitable licenses for papers][5] [Diamond Open Access Journals][6] [Open repository for publishing theses][7] ---------- **Article** [A guide to self-archiving for young research scientists][8] ---------- [**Infographic**][9] [1]: https://doaj.org/ [2]: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=676JM1M_gFg [3]: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5rVH1KGBCY [4]: https://v2.sherpa.ac.uk/romeo/about.html [5]: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/ [6]: https://freejournals.org/ [7]: https://osf.io/preprints/thesiscommons/ [8]: https://www.enago.com/academy/a-guide-to-self-archiving-for-young-research-scientists/ [9]: https://gfoss.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/24/2017/08/Open-Access-Publishing.gif
