# Overview and organization of this project This page contains data associated with the publication: Adam, K.C.S., Vogel, E.K., & Awh, E. (2017) Clear evidence for item limits in visual working memory. *Cognitive Psychology*, 97, 79-97. A copy of the paper can be found [here][1]. **Data citation:** See citation list in the top-right corner of the main project page. **Usage:** This OSF project contains the data and analysis scripts for all experiments in our paper. If you would like to use the data in published work, please cite both the paper and OSF data set. We would also be excited and interested to hear about projects you're working on with our data! Get in touch at kadam1@uchicago.edu We analyzed the data in [MATLAB][2]. To run the analysis scripts and psychtoolbox code, you will need access to MATLAB. Unfortunately, MATLAB requires a paid license. For some analyses, you'll also need to download a copy of [Memtoolbox][3]. An open-source alternative to Matlab is [GNU Octave][4]. This open source alternative should work fine to load .mat files, but keep in mind that code has not been tested for compatibility with Octave. We have also included some CSV files of key variables to facilitate cross-platform analysis. For any further questions or comments, don't hesitate to email me: kadam1@uchicago.edu ## Status Last checked on status in June 2018. All of the task code, individual files, and aggregate data files have been posted. Experiments 1a and 2a also have all analysis scripts. ## General organization Each experiment has a main folder ("component") which contains sub-folders for aggregate data, individual files, and analysis scripts. Each of these sub-folders contains additional README files to guide your use of the data. ### Example component: Experiment 1A * **AggregateFiles**: Contains .csv and .mat files of aggregate data. See the "README_aggregateFiles_E1a.md" document for more information. * **Analysis Plots**: Plots the paper figures using the aggregate data files. * **Analysis Scripts**: Various analyses run for this experiment. These can be run in alpha-numeric order (e.g. A1, A2, B1, C1, C2). * **Individual Files - CSV**: CSV files of key variables for each individual participant. See the "README_individualFiles_E1a.md" document for more information * **IndividualFiles_Matlab**: Zip folder containin all .mat files for individual subjects in Experiment 1a. See the "README_individualFiles.md" document for more information. * **Task Code**: Psychtoolbox code used to run the experiment. See the "TaskNotes_Color.md" document in this folder for more information.
