This project website offers additional information to the reader of the study "Quantifying the impact of EER modeling on relational database success: an experimental investigation", presented at the 39th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling in Vienna in November 2020.
Within this project, the following additional information can be found:
- The PostgreSQL backups of both the minimal effort and the EER-based databases (**medb\_backup.sql** and **eerdb\_backup.sql**).
- The EER diagram that was constructed during the design process of the EER-based relational database (**eerdiagram.png**).
- The relational schemas of both the EER-based and the minimal effort database. The relational schema of EERDB was obtained by mapping the EER diagram to the corresponding relational schema. The relational schema of MEDB was constructed with the minimally needed effort in order to be able to store the IMDb data in a relational database (**medb\_relschema.png** and **eerdb\_relschema.png**).
- The set of tasks the participants had to solve during the experiment, with a corresponding model answer for both EERDB and MEDB (**tasks.pdf**, **solutions_medb.pdf** and **solutions_eerdb.pdf**).
- The informed consent that was offered to the participants before the start of the experiment (in Dutch) (**informed\_consent.pdf**).
- Some general documentation regarding the EERDB or MEDB database that was handed out to the participants, depending on the specific database group in which the specific participant was categorized (**medb\_docs.pdf** and **eerdb\_docs.pdf**).
- An overview of the SQL functionality that was given to the participants before the start of the experiment (**sql\_functionality.pdf**).
- A dataset containing the measured values for the total amount of time and the total execution costs (**measured\_times.csv** and **measured\_execution\_cost.csv**).
