Wiki Version:
Participants (N=169) completed the Breadth- Based Adjective Rating Task twice: once rating adjectives based on how well they describe their present self, and once based on their past self. Participants were not only more likely to endorse negative traits when considering their past selves (consistent with Temporal Self-Appraisal Theory), but also demonstrated a bias towards endorsing broad traits.
