Emotion Suppression in Chinese Kindergartens: A Systematic Review ---------------------------------- **Research Questions** 1. How is emotion suppression defined and operationalized in Chinese kindergartens? 2. What measures are used to assess emotion suppression in Chinese kindergartens? 3. Is emotion suppression adaptive or maladaptive in Chinese kindergartens? ---------- **To address RQ1,** we are reviewing empirical articles with data collected from China that self-identified as studying emotion suppression published in both Chinese- and English-based academic journals. We will code the definition of emotion suppression employed in the article. **To address RQ2,** we are focusing on coding the type and origin of emotion suppression measures used to assess Chinese children with emphasis on cultural adaptation. **To address RQ3,** we are focusing on skills and concepts that have been studied in relation to emotion suppression in China and code whether they are adaptive vs maladaptive skills. ---------- We will follow up this initial study with a Meta-analysis of school-based emotion suppression with expanded terms and subterms that we identified.
