Description: I present novel empirical observations showing that conditionals involving contrasting events generate the implicature that their consequent is false. This implicature arises for both counterfactuals and future subjunctive conditionals. I show that this cannot be accounted for by current theories and propose a first account. I also provide an algorithm to model these effects explicitly using minimal model generation.
