In 2015, Tennessee launched Tennessee Promise ("TN Promise"), which is the most comprehensive and well-funded statewide free-college scholarship program in the country. TN Promise provides last-dollar scholarships that cover mandatory tuition and fees for all participants. As a key TN Promise partner working to help students navigate barriers to completion, tnAchieves provides completion coaching across the state's 13 community colleges. This Study compares associate degree completion within three years among low-income community college students (i.e., with $0 Estimated Family Contribution) receiving one of two types of completion coaching: proactive or reactive coaching.
