Welcome collaborators! Thank you very much for completing the Team Registration Form and joining the MAPS project. These are the materials that you will need to complete your analysis and submit it to us by **24 June 2019**. 1. `Preview Final Analysis Report` - this is a preview of the report you will use to submit your final analysis, it is not the final version of the Final Analysis Report but any changes will be minor. It contains an eligibility checklist, standardised questions to report your final analysis and a survey. If you are using R, an example of how you should submit your code to us for checking, and with your Final Analysis Report, is provided in the `example_final_analysis_TEAM_JEAN.R` 2. `Synthetic Dataset`- perform your analysis on this data. 3. `Synthetic Data Dictionary` - this explains all the variables in the synthetic dataset. 4. `Data Dictionary References` - a folder containing additional documentation explaining some variables. For example, those derived from validated questionnaire measures. 2. `Submission Guidelines` - guidelines for how you will submit your final analysis. **NEXT STEPS** **Step 1: conduct your analysis** The Synthetic Dataset is now available to you. You may now begin your analyses. During your analysis we recommend you adhere to the following workflow: * Read through all of the Final Analysis Report and Submission Guidelines before attempting any data analysis. This will ensure you understand what is required for submitting your analysis. * Do your analysis in any way you please using the Synthetic Dataset. Use as many scripts, notebooks or other tools as you feel necessary. You will not need to submit these (although we strongly encourage you to post these files on the OSF or similar e.g. Github). **Step 2: check your code** Once you have come up with an analysis strategy we will need to check that your code can be run on another machine. To allow us to check your code please: * Re-write your code to conform to the format specified in Submission Guidelines (see Section 4. Code Submission Format) * Email just the code to us. If our results don’t match yours or it fails to run you will need to alter your submission. This back and forth will continue until your code runs without problems on our machines. **Step 3: submit your analysis** Once we have checked your code we will be ready to receive your completed Final Analysis Report which we will then run on the Real Dataset and report your results back to you. To submit your Final Analysis Report please: * Email your Final Analysis Report, and checked code, to maps-project@bristol.ac.uk by 24 June 2019. The title of the email should be: “[insert team name] Final Analysis Report” **LATER STEPS** Once you have contributed to the crowdsourced data analysis you are guaranteed authorship on any paper resulting from MAPS but there are more opportunities to be involved in the project. Once the crowdsourced data analysis is finished we will invite you to compete in our Data Visualisation Challenge. The challenge is to visualise all the data generated from the crowdsourced data analysis (done by you) and the multiverse analyses on it (done by us). We will send more details nearer the time. **IMPORTANT INFORMATION** A few housekeeping points. Throughout this process we ask that you please do not: * Share the Synthetic Dataset with anyone who has not completed a Team Registration Form. We want to compare your beliefs about the link between computer use and depression before and after collaborators see the data. We anticipate that team members will change, this is fine but **please make sure any new members have completed a Team Registration Form (https://bristolexppsych.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cLPKcOvAfuqAGrj) before you discuss the data or your analysis strategy with them.** * Attempt to retrieve the original variables from ALSPAC as we only want analyses planned using the Synthetic Dataset (this is particularly relevant for ALSPAC Direct Users). * Contact members of other teams to discuss your analysis. We want to see how statistical analyses vary across independent teams and by communicating with each other may lead to different analyses than those you would have done without communication. We will alert you to any major changes via email but we recommend that you always refer to these documents for details about MAPS. **That’s it!
