This OSF project contains the complete data file analysed and reported in **Carragher, D. J., Thomas, N. A., Gwinn, O. S., & Nicholls, M. E. R. (2019). Limited evidence of hierarchical encoding in the cheerleader effect, Scientific Reports**. This article is currently in press. The data for each experiment are included in a single Excel file, which contains multiple spreadsheets. Rather than write an expansive description of each spreadsheet in this wiki, each spreadsheet has its own legend (to the right of the data), which explains the nature of the data in each column. I would recommend downloading the data as an Excel file, which will make these legends easier to read. If you have any questions about the data file, or about the article in general, please send me an email: danieljcarragher@gmail.com **Exclusions** The data file includes data from all tested participants across the three experiments reported in the manuscript. In order to replicate the results reported in the article, several participants must be excluded from analysis in Experiment 1. Participants are to be excluded if a '1' appears in the 'Exclusion' column. The final column in each spreadsheet contains a written reason for each exclusion. The column labelled 'Line Click Accuracy' shows the average vertical deviation (as a percentage of total screen size) that the participant made when making their response on the visual analogue scale. Following the criteria established in Carragher et al. (2018), we excluded participants with deviations greater than 2%, as we could not guarantee that the participant had completed the task carefully. In the published article, these are the participants "who did not complete the task as instructed". Finally, all data was excluded from a participant if their mean for any one cheerleader effect condition fell further than 3SD from the respective condition mean. Importantly, these calculations were performed once data from participants excluded for Line Click Accuracy (and technical failure) had already been excluded from the dataset.
