Description: This study aimed to investigate recognition memory for texts in L1 and L2 on the long term to find out whether people can recall equal amounts of information in both languages or whether L2 yields higher memory loss. Participants studied short, expository texts both in L1 and in L2 and received an immediate true/false judgment test and a delayed one. They were divided in three groups which received the delayed test either after a day, after a week or after a month. Several control variables were measured: proficiency, language background, working memory span, self-ratings of motivation, ratings of text features, etc. Analyses show a main effect of language and delay, but no interaction between both. This directory contains the datasets, detailed test statistics, and some illustrations of the results.
