Description: Please note that the analysis syntax uploaded in the preregistration contained two errors which have been corrected in this version of the project. The first was a coding error which concerned the naming of factors in the final two ANOVAs. The second was an exclusion criterion error which calculated the proportion of error trials over various block types incorrectly. The syntax uploaded here is identical to the preregistered syntax except for the following points: ls. 8, 48, 100: Path to data on local computer has been modified l. 226: Filter is now computed to isolate training trials that were not label trials l. 235: Filter is now computed to isolate experimental trials that were not label trials ls. 456, 468: Factor names have been switched in order to reflect actual coding The coding error was noted and corrected after the first datasets of 220 participants had been collected, but before the necessary additional recruitment due to dropout. The exclusion error was noted and corrected after the additional recruitment of 40 participants. The initial syntax dropped the number of valid datasets down to 173, so 40 participants were recruited straight away, since a set of 20 would not have allowed us to reach the criterion of 199. For this reason, the final sample contains 221 valid datasets of 254 recruited, missing cases due to technical issues with the Prolific platform. Of the initial 254 datasets, 2 are dropped for missing data, 33 are dropped due to high error rates on at least one criterion (see preregistration script) and 0 are dropped for experiment duration.
