Description: Cue-induced food craving is a major driver for the rapid rise in modern obesity rates. However, a structured library of food craving-inducing pictures based on multiple categories of high-calorie foods is still lacking to help investigate the occurrence and development of cue-induced cravings that may be specific to certain foods. We here developed a Chinese food picture system consisting of five subtypes of high-calorie foods rated by 241 individuals with overweight or obese. Our results showed that cue-induced cravings correlate with problematic eating behaviours in individuals with overweight or obese, especially food addiction characteristics. Further analysis revealed that the correlation varied by specific types of high-calorie foods and individual characteristics. For clinical practice, the results provide valuable information related to obesity interventions and diet management. For other researchers, this study provides a simple tutorial on how to create a structured picture library from something with multiple categories (e.g., food).
