Description: This document provides guidance and example wording to support researchers applying for ethical and regulatory approval for a SWAT to test the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of a cash payment vs. a voucher payment on participant recruitment rates (CASH). This guidance is aimed at researchers undertaking individual SWATs. If you are planning a co-ordinated SWAT replicating this SWAT across multiple host trials, the Health Research Authority in the UK has drafted separate guidance for obtaining ethical approval for co-ordinated SWATs.
