Description: This research article contributes to the scientific literature of the development of aggression in children by presenting evidence of a common genetic mechanism for proactive and reactive aggression as well as two shared environmental mechanisms, one specific to each type. To our knowledge, this is the first study to explicitly model the co-development of proactive and reactive aggression with growth curves while simultaneously testing for their common and specific genetic and environmental etiology.
