Description: Previous research and surveys find that US citizens are polarized around issues such as race and global warming and that this polarization typically occurs along partisan lines. Our experiment is designed to investigate whether this polarization is just found when individuals self-report their attitudes or whether polarization is more substantial and also influences real behavior with tangible consequences. In other words, are the self-reported attitudes on polarized issues just cheap talk or actual determinants of behavior.
