Once the data for all 250 participants are in, we will remove data from participants that are non-native speakers of English. We will also remove data from participants that participated in Exp 1 or Exp 2. Finally, we will remove data from participants that have reading times faster than 0.05 seconds per word. Reading times will be checked for all four parts of the story. When at least one part of the story is read too fast, we will remove all the data from this participant.
If removing participants leads to less than 102 participants per condition, we will collect additional data until this criterium is met.
In case of an unequal number of participants in the conditions, we will remove the last run participants of the condition with the most participants until both groups have the sample size.
For each participant we will calculate a score for the number of correctly answered questions, a transportation scale score, and a score for the number of correctly answered questions based on the gender of the agent. Then we will perform t-tests for all three outcome measures.
