Wiki Version:
This is a desktop version of Open Specy (www.openspecy.org) that is developed so that it will function offline. It is updated less frequently than the web version and does not have any data sharing features in it. Also, if the desktop is in offline mode, the web links in the tool will not work. This version of Open Specy can be better than the online version for users who do not want a stable and nonupdating version of Open Specy, users who do not have online access on their desktop, and users who want to control the functionality of Open Specy more precisely or help develop features for Open Specy. To use, you must have a computer with Windows opperating system and a browser software installed (e.g. chrome, firefox, explorer). Steps for using: 1. Download the zip file. [Step1.JPG in Wiki Images Folder] 2. Extract files and copy to a known folder on the desktop. 7zip is a free software that will allow you to unzip the folder. 3. Open the folder and double click the file called "OpenSpecyDesktopApplication" [Step3.JPG in Wiki Images Folder] Step for developers: 1. This app uses the DesktopDeployR framework to deploy a Shiny app as a standalone desktop application. https://github.com/wleepang/DesktopDeployR 2. The source code can be found at app>shiny 3. A portable version of R can be found at dist>R-Portable 4. Any new libraries need to be fully installed for R version 4.0.0 in the app>library folder. 5. Development updates can be submitted to Win at wincowger@gmail.com. 6. Win will review and validate the updates and then add them to the the Open Specy website and the desktop version on OSF.
