Description: This study aims to determine whether augmented reality (AR) can increase the occurrence of involuntary autobiographical memories. Participants walk along a path with a smartphone, and see a sequence of visual stimuli (3D objects) laid across that path. The stimuli are shown on the smartphone either with a regular 3D model viewer, or in augmented reality. We then count the number of self-reported involuntary memories occuring during a subsequent task in lab settings, as well as outside the lab during a 4-day diary study.
