Description: Question: What are the sample and intervention characteristics of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) prevention lifestyle intervention studies? What outcomes related to GDM and beyond gestational weight gain have been measured in response to GDM prevention lifestyle interventions? Population, Concept, Context (as recommended by Scoping Review Guidelines) Population: Pregnant women of all ages and phenotypes. Concept: Lifestyle intervention is a first-line approach for preventing GDM, despite conflicting results. In order to inform future GDM prevention lifestyle interventions, there is a need to map the characteristics of current interventions to inform future directions. Furthermore, sample characteristics and diabetes-related physiologic outcomes will be described. Context: Randomized control trials of lifestyle interventions for reducing GDM risk. Lifestyle interventions to be examined will target physical activity and nutrition behaviors at minimum, excluding medication/supplement interventions. All contexts and settings of GDM prevention lifestyle interventions will be considered.
