Description: Binocular rivalry (BR) can occur when the eyes are presented with different monocular images. As the brain is habituated to binocular vision and cannot merge two completely different images, perception alternates stochastically between distinct percepts associated with each image. Here, we use electroencephalography (EEG) to record fronto-medial theta oscillations as well as occipito-parietal alpha oscillations in order to explore the possible role of cognitive conflict in governing rivalry dynamics as well as their modulation by inhibitory processes.
