Category: Project

Description: This study is designed to replicate the Patel et al. (1998) study that tests whether a known neural correlate of syntactic processing is specific to the language domain, or applies to musical structure processing as well, when tested in musically trained participants. Event-related potentials (specifically P600) will be used to investigate the difficulty of integrating a targeted section of a stimulus into a given musical or sentence structure.
