The University of Kansas Libraries' newly-formed Digital Scholarship Team created and played in the Digital Scholarship Sandbox during 2017. The Digital Scholarship Sandbox dedicated time and space to playing with tools and techniques unfamiliar to the Libraries' staff and faculty who joined the group. "Play" was deliberately emphasized, as the Sandbox was not obligated to generate end products, final outcomes, or tidy reports. The Sandbox took advantage of the Libraries' stores of internal data as fodder for its play. This lightning talk discusses the Sandbox participants, play structure, activities, successes, and complications.
