Wiki Version:
Studying can be a stressful time, and some students experience mental health problems such as depression during their education. In this research project, we are building WARN-D, a personalized early warning system for depression. To do so, we follow 2,000 students living in the Netherlands for 2 years, using smartwatch and smartphones as data collection tools. WARN-D will result in an app similar to apps that provide you with storm alerts for the next few days in your region, and will help us develop personalized prevention programs to tackle mental health problems before they occur. Unlike storms from which we can only run or seek shelter, there is a real chance we can prevent mental health problems altogether. A very short intro video of WARN-D is available on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bN5kkRbUdw), and you can find more information on our website (https://www.warn-d.com). The project is funded by the European Research Council.
