Wiki Version:
This dataset contains information about the internal composition of medieval manuscripts containing tropes sourced from Corpus Troporum. It provides information about which so-called trope elements, snippets that are inserted into the existing plainchant, appear in which manuscripts around the whole of Europe. The trope element indices of the following two volumes are available: * Jacobsson, Ritva Maria. Corpus troporum. 1, Tropes du propre de la messe, 1, Cycle de Noël. Almqvist & Wiksell International, 1975. * Björkvall, Gunilla, Gunilla Iversen, and Ritva Jonsson. Corpus troporum. 3: Tropes du propre de la messe: 2. Cycle de pâques. na, 1982. The csv file contains 51939 trope element occurences in found in 69 manuscripts associated with 22 prime chants. It has the following columns: * Index – A unique identifier for each row in the dataset. * Prime_Chant – This column contains the name or identifier of the plainchant to which trope elements have been added. * Feast – This refers to the religious feast or celebration associated with the particular chant. * Genre - This column categorizes the type of chant or the liturgical function that the chant serves. For proper chants: Introitus (intr), Offertorium (off), Communio (com) * Source_ID – An identifier for the manuscript source from which the information is derived. * Trope_Elements – The "Trope_Elements" column provides the context or content of the trope elements, with duplication occurring for entries that have the same "Feast" and "Source_ID" combination but different "Trope_IDs", resulting in repeated content in this column. * CT_Volume – This refers to the volume of the "Corpus Troporum" from which the trope element is sourced. * Comments – Any additional notes, observations, or comments that the researcher may have added regarding the trope element, the manuscript, or the context. * Trope_ID – A unique identifier for the trope element. ![Network Model Visualisation of Trope Element Repertoire Similarities computed from this Dataset][1] See [trope.network][2] [1]: https://files.osf.io/v1/resources/fkdq5/providers/osfstorage/653e3cec282745165ab8647b?mode=render [2]: https://trope.network
