Description: An analysis of the neuroprotective effects of Ucf-101 in a mouse model of contusive spinal cord injury. Ucf-101, an Omi-HtrA2 protease inhibitor, reduces neuronal death caused by spinal cord injury. Specifically, the drug protects neurons in regions caudal to the injury site (see Figure 4 in Reigada et al., 2015) giving an idea that its "protective" effect is not general for all neurons. The question is with which neurons does Ucf-101 have an effect?
